Liver Biomarkers

Biomarkers of hepatotoxicity are of increasing importance in the development of new therapeutics for treatment and prevention of a broad range of diseases. In this regard, we now manufacture kits for Vitamin D-binding protein (Gc globulin) and liver fatty acid binding protein (L-FABP), both of which have recently been identified as biomarkers of liver toxicity and injury. Certain acute phase proteins (haptoglobin and hemopexin) have also been identified as biomarkers of liver damage and it is possible that other acute phase proteins, almost all of which are expressed by hepatocytes, may prove useful as markers of liver damage also.
